‘Took My Breath Away’ is the first official release of any kind from Florida based indie pop rockers The Night Alone. Made up of Christian Koller (multi-instrumentalist and lead vocalist) and Vincent “Vinny” Manzi (lead guitarist and producer,) ‘Took My Breath Away’ is the high-energy and passionate culmination of many years as songwriting partners. Drawing on a wide range of influences, the pair have produced a genre-blending tune that showcases their undeniable talent. The synth-filled, pop-infused anthem sees Koller wear his heart on his sleeve, as he professes his pure and unfiltered love for his partner. “You took my breath away when I saw you that day.” sings Koller. “You know how it goes, I love you so much it’s gross.” If ‘Took My Breath Away’ is up your alley, you’ll be happy to know that The Night Alone has a large discography of unreleased demos that will be released very soon!
‘Took My Breath Away’ needs to be belted out at large, outdoor festivals. Bookers – get these guys on the bill!
INDIE TOP 39
What does the song mean to you?
Christian: I took a lot of inspiration from my own relationship going on three and a half years. I wanted it to be vulnerable and not try to be anything else. Sometimes you wonder how something will be perceived and this song helped me let that go.
Tell us about your creative process and how the song came to be?
Christian: I wrote this song as part of a custom songwriting company. Working with this company, I ended up writing around two songs a day. Some great, some not as much! But, this one stuck out and Vinny and I ended up loving it. He then took it and made it have so much more identity and life. He’s gotten really good at interpreting my ideas.
Which Netflix series or movie would you like your music to be featured in?
Vinny: Outer Banks.
Christian: Oh yeah! That actually works really well. Maybe the chorus is blasting while they’re boating or something. Maybe I’ll change the lyrics to something with a boat instead of a light blue Cadillac.
What do you want to achieve in the next 12 months with your music?
Christian: I’d love to just keep releasing music consistently. We’ve got so many demos that we’ve been storing for about two years, so there’s a lot on the way. We’d love to share this music with as many people as possible.
Vinny: Yeah, just to establish some sort of following for our band. Hopefully playing shows, too. But we’ll see because of how COVID is going in the U.S.
