Taking inspiration from the popular 2006 TV show Heroes, and its villain Sylar in particular, London-based singer/songwriter Shayanne recently released one of our favourite tunes so far this year. ‘All You Are’ is a dark, hauntingly absorbing, and atmospheric piece that allows for Shayanne’s vocals to take front and centre – and she doesn’t disappoint! It’s a mesmerising vocal performance, and one that we at Indie Top 39 believe sets her apart from many others in her field. ‘All You Are’ is Shayanne’s first release of 2022, and the musician worked alongside Beth Duncan and producer Adam Rust (Pixie Lott, JP Cooper, Becky Hill) to create the unbelievably unique and boundary-pushing track. It’s a song that lives within you long after your first listen, and I guess that’s the true test of any song. We can’t wait to hear what she gifts the world with next.
‘All You Are’ is one of the best tunes we’ve heard so far this year. Dark, haunting, cinematic, and a little eerie, we’re loving Shayanne right now!

What does the song mean to you?
I wrote ‘All You Are’ a while ago, and as I have developed and matured over the years so has this song. It’s a strange concept not often explored by musicians, to write about things, characters, and stories that have been seen on TV and film, but it’s part of my identity as an artist and my goal with my music is to inspire people to be creative in ways that they didn’t think was ‘normal’ or ‘good’. We are all humans and we all seek that connection one way or another. This song, my music, is my way. After all these years this is one of my favourite songs I have written and I hope you enjoy the journey the it takes you on.
What are your favourite lyrics in the song?
“Base my life on the words I scream inside.” I mean, come on – doesn’t that send shivers down your spine?
What inspired you to share the song with the world?
I was done hiding. I was done thinking that I wasn’t good enough or that I was too weird or that no-one would like the song. It took a lot of bravery and time for me to get here. But ultimately I knew I would have more regrets if I didn’t share myself, my style, my quirky/geeky habit of writing about TV and movie characters and things that intrigue me. I knew that I would regret not sharing my art with the world, because at the end of the day, we all have something to give to the human experience and to each-other. A character study through song is what I’m contributing with ‘All You Are’ – it’ll probably be something completely different with the next release! Life is too short not to do what you love.
Which Netflix series or movie would you like your music to be featured in?
Oh my gosh – definitely The OA – if you haven’t seen it, it’s incredible! Or maybe Final Space – haha! Two very different and totally distinctive shows that I can see my music in. Lol I’m so strange!
