What better way to round off the week than with a dreamy, hazy, mellow little tune courtesy of Kentucky-based songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Jamey See Tai. Performing under the moniker of SEE TAI, the artist is well known for his work in the instrumental post-rock band The Photographic. ‘Fun Now’, however, is the musician’s first solo release of 2022, and it’s a synth-filled indie-pop banger that immediately lifts your spirits and takes you away for a little while.
Described by the artist as a “somewhat light-hearted take on the highs and lows of partying”, ‘Fun Now’ was written during a bittersweet period of SEE TAI’s life. “Our heads are gone, we won’t remember,” he sings. “The things we’ve done, been on a bender.” It truly is a top-notch track from a highly talented songwriter that we at Indie Top 39 are beginning to fall pretty hard for!

I wrote the lyrics to it with my good friend Brian Vega a while back during a bittersweet time in my life. I was going out almost every night and feeling the repercussions of it every following day.
What inspired you to share the song with the world?
I’ve gone back and forth with different musical arrangements for it over the years and finally landed on this one, which I recorded and produced myself in my home studio.
