The debut release of any kind from Australian based musician and producer, Pomaa, is a seriously impressive offering that had our attention straight from the off. ‘I Can’t Wait ‘Til This Doesn’t Matter’ is a simply (in a good way) constructed dream pop tune that allows for Pomaa’s honeyed and charismatic vocals to take center stage. I can’t help but be reminded of fellow Australian songstress, Julia Jacklin. It’s a song that expertly captures the inner conflict that we’ve all had before – reliving one’s past and wishing those memories would disappear from our consciousness. Recorded at the SAE Institute in Melbourne, ‘I Can’t Wait ‘Til This Doesn’t Matter’ forms part of a compilation album that was created by Women In Stereo to showcase up and coming female artists. Inspired by the likes of The Strokes and Howling Bells, Pomaa is certainly an artist worth keeping an eye (and an ear) on.
‘I Can’t Wait ‘Til This Doesn’t Matter’ is a beautifully dreamy and warm tune that invites you into the introspective world of Pomaa.

What does the song mean to you?
I Can’t Wait ‘Til this Doesn’t Matter is a reminder to me that all bad things come to an end and one day they just won’t matter as much as they do in that moment.
Who do you hope the song resonates with the most?
Everyone! I think we’ve all been in a situation where we feel like everything is just crumbling in on itself but we always make it out, it always gets better, and I want this song to remind people of that eventual relief.
Which Netflix series or movie would you like your music to be featured in?
Having my music featured in a movie or a TV show is such a dream of mine. I think this one would work really well in a teen drama – something like Mad Fat Diary or Puberty Blues but for current times.
I’m also interested in writing for film – either scoring or writing for a soundtrack. Music really makes or breaks a film for me so it would be interesting to be part of that process and help bring the story to life.
What are your favourite lyrics in the song?
Probably “A miniscule moment / of an uneventful life / echoes in the chambers of my mind”.
I feel like it creates a great picture of what it is actually like to be in that mindset. Sometimes the smallest things will have me upset for days but it’s only because I’m not really doing too much else with my life at the time. And it will literally just bounce around my head and pop up at the front of my mind every few hours or so.
