London-based singer, songwriter, and producer, Pimms Brooke, recently released her spectacularly smooth dark pop hit simply entitled ‘Try’. Having recently returned to the UK after spending 7 years performing in Dubai, it’s clear that Pimms has finely honed and perfected her overall soundscape. ‘Try’ is a beautifully lush and rich tune, dripping with ambient synths, mellow drum beats, and the soulful, smokey vocals of the dazzling songstress herself. “Trying to be human, get lost in all emotion,” sings Pimms. “Fighting to be free, these moves are not easy.” ‘Try’ sends out a critical message about not giving up, and pushing oneself to make a change. Pimms describes it as “a personal self-help guide for me and anyone suffering from mental health.” Inspired by legends like Etta James, Nina Simone, Frank Sinatra, and Celine Dion, Pimms Brooke is undoubtedly here to stay. And deservedly so!
The luscious, synth-filled soundscape and soulful, smokey vocals featured on ‘Try’ are just what the world needs now.
INDIE TOP 39
What does the song mean to you?
‘Try’ has an important messages about freeing yourself from feeling trapped. Try as hard as you can to make a change for the better, more positive things in life. It felt like the right time to release this song due to the situation we have all been in. I’m very proud of the message this song brings and the feedback I’ve had has been so rewarding.
What would your life be like without music?
I don’t think I could survive without music. I would not have the musical talents I have if it wasn’t for the strong influences of artists I’ve had growing up. How boring would life be without music urgh!
What do you want to achieve in the next 12 months with your music?
I want to be way into writing my new album, have some tour dates set up, and definitely travel a lot more. Meet some more epic creatives in London and work with more talented people.
What does success mean to you?
Success to me is waking up in the morning! Being able to do the job you want to do, getting over a break up and coming out stronger. Doing things that people say you can’t. Being healthy and happy is success.
