London-based multi-instrumentalist, Pedro Samp, returns to the scene with an incredible new tune entitled ‘Silver’. Recorded in the musician’s home studio and mastered by multi-Grammy award-winning engineer Daniel Alcoforado, ‘Silver’ is a beautifully laid-back track with intricate guitar work, hazy synths, and the silky-smooth vocals of Samp.
A song that explores one’s difficulty with communicating in a relationship, and how hazardous that can be for all involved, it’s clear that Pedro wears his heart firmly on his sleeve. “There are so many things inside of me that I wanna let out,” he sings. “So many things, it’s gonna be a blackout.” The musician draws on inspiration from a wide variety of artists – Mac Miller, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Weeknd, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler to name just a few – and one has to believe this contributes to his incredibly unique and distinctive sound.
‘Silver’ is a laid-back and hazy little number that showcases an incredibly talented musician!

What does the song mean to you?
This song portrays someone that has a really hard time communicating/expressing themselves in a relationship and how dangerous this can be for both parts, as they can be truly unpredictable if they don’t talk or express their feelings.
When did you realise that music is what you wanted to do?
There were several moments in my life when I thought music was calling me but I vividly remember the first time my dad played me Mark Knopfler playing Money for Nothing live at the Royal Albert Hall with Eric Clapton, Phil Collins and Sting – playing their hearts out. That was one of them. Then, something happened later on when I was eleven which I really can only blame fate for – but I was introduced for the very first time to Jimmy Page and he was just so cool and very kind.
What does success mean to you?
Success in music can be quite subjective. I think the utter definition of success for me, is when someone likes your song so much that they nick it for themselves and call it theirs – “That’s my song!” When something inside that one song resonates so badly with them, they can’t help but to literally say “That’s my song.”
Please finish the sentence – Music to me is…
My life. My own escape. I come from a broken family. We were once happy together and very loving to each other. Then my father left us. As the time went by, I learned that I could re-live all those precious pain-free moments whenever I pleased by simply listening to the great music that my parents introduced me to. All of our memories are preciously locked inside some of my favourite songs. From The Police to Eric Clapton, Simply Red, Men at Work and Dire Straits. I’m currently in a life quest after melodies capable of bringing smiles, pleasure, tears and joy.
