Pale Moon is the musical project of Árni Gudjonsson and Natalia Sushchenko. Hailing from Iceland and Russia respectively, the duo are now based in Reykjavik and have just released their brand new dreamy, indie-pop hit ‘Strange Days’. A track that lyrically juxtaposes its overall soundscape, ‘Strange Days’ is filled with happy-go-lucky guitar riffs, upbeat drums and sweet-sounding synths. Natalia Sushchenko’s lyrics, however, tell a very different story. Themes of loneliness and isolation are honestly and openly explored. “I’m feeling like a stranger today, I woke up on the wrong side of bed, I don’t know who to blame.”
Influenced by heavyweights like Billy Joel, David Bowie and The Beach Boys, Pale Moon have managed to engineer their own unique sound that is both captivating and entrancing. The duo has no plans of slowing down their musical output, and we at Indie Top 39 can’t wait to hear what they do next!
‘Strange Days’ is a dreamy, fun, and happy-go-lucky tune that beautifully finds the humour in life’s lonely and isolating moments.

What does the song mean to you?
It’s probably the most quirky, fun song we’ve released so far. I had the chorus written for a while, so I got a bit dispatched with the song until we wrote the bridge. I thought I was able to say something from the deep dark corners of my soul without going all sad about it. That’s what the song is for me I guess.
Tell us about your creative process and how the song came to be?
I wrote a few songs about being sad and lonely in Iceland. I don’t know why, but the weather and isolation created the perfect environment to have those “sitting in the dark room moments”. Humor had been my to-go treatment for any situation in life. This combo created the song. Just my weird personality, discomfort of being vulnerable and joke-off my own depression.
Which Netflix series or movie would you like your music to be featured in?
I hope it gets to some zombie comedy on Netflix. That would be the spot for it!
When did you realise that music is what you wanted to do?
Well, would it be predictable if I say, I always knew? I feel I knew, but obviously it took me a substantial amount of time to get this information out from my subconscious.
