Another day brings another cracking debut! ‘On Repeat’ is the first release from Berlin-based threesome ORA BLU, and it’s an electronic, funky, and super fresh tune that we believe you’ll just love! The band take their name from the Italian phrase meaning blue hour, the period of twilight when the sun is at a significant depth below the horizon, and they expertly match up their sound to this dreamy, hazy time period. Danceable, groovy, and richly layered, ‘On Repeat’ is actually quite a trippy and summery little number, with beautiful vocal interactions between band members Kai and Marlene.
With different backgrounds, styles, and approaches, ORA BLU proves that not only can this combination work, it can in fact be advantageous in creating a unique, distinctive, and eclectic soundscape. With two more singles planned, and an EP in the works, we at Indie Top 39 cannot wait to hear what this talented outfit comes up with next!
Rich, groovy, unique, and original, ‘On Repeat’ is a trippy journey that you won’t want to end!

What does the song mean to you?
It means a lot since it is the first single we’ve put out. Other than that we love playing it live because of its danceability and its sexy mood.
What do you hope to achieve with this song?
It is a good starting point for our upcoming releases. Since we live in Berlin, where electronic music is very prominent, we thought it might be a good song to bring some attention to our band and start gaining some fans.
Tell us about your creative process and how the song came to be.
It all started with the bassline I (Kai) came up with. And after Henrik added the beat I started writing the first verse and the chorus. I instantly got a sexy feel from the production and had this vision of two people getting to know each other in a club setting and not being able to let each other go. We were unsure how to continue with the second verse for a while until Marlene had the idea of telling the story from both perspectives. After that, it all came together pretty naturally. The last thing we added at the very end is the vocal sample in the outro, which in fact is our vocals from the chorus in reverse.
What do you want to achieve in the next 12 months with your music?
First of all, we want to build a fanbase and get our music heard. That includes playing as many shows as possible.
