‘To Love & Lie.’ is the brand new single from London based alternative R&B singer Miles Anthony, better known by his stage name MileHi. The follow-up to his debut release ‘Your Body,’ ‘To Live & Lie.’ sees Anthony pushing musical boundaries and putting a fresh and exciting spin on things. The track has elements of rock and roll (just wait for the guitar solo!) expertly mixed in with that classic R&B sound. MileHi’s vocals are also worthy of a special shout out – as the talented musician showcases incredible range and control. Lyrically, Anthony deals with a complex relationship issue – that of settling for less than we deserve, out of fear of having nothing at all. Drawing on influences from the likes of Prince, Lennie Kravitz and Miguel, MileHi is breaking the mould of what society expects him to be – and we are just lucky enough to be along for the ride.
A smooth, textured and thoughtful track, ‘to love & lie.’ sees MileHi continuing on his rapid rise to the top.

What does the song mean to you?
For me, ‘To Love & Lie.’ is and always will be the honest conversation I had with myself about differentiating between love and sex. The song is reflective of a time when I thought that men were supposed to put others needs first because that was more important than expressing their wants and needs.
‘To Love & Lie.’ is representative of the fact that I am allowed to be vulnerable – especially when it comes to love.
Tell us about your creative process and how the song came to be?
So, ‘To Love & Lie.’ was birthed from a session back in 2018. Usually when I’m working with new producers we’ll meet an hour or two before our session and just talk about life – about anything that’s on my chest. So when it came to this song I can remember wanting to be open about my toxic traits. I wanted to have an R&B song with an electric guitar in the driver’s seat. I wanted a mood, I wanted something that felt a little turbulent, and we worked towards that goal.
I wanted to talk about the relationships where I went about things the wrong way and the times where I could have communicated better. The situations where sex was the only thing that made me stay. I mean, most of us have been through it. I wanted to make a record that said “this shit didn’t work out because you were toxic AF… but so was I.
What are your favourite lyrics in the song?
“You know I don’t like to learn,
Especially when it comes to us,
But I’m hoping that could change a little,
If you stay a little.”
It’s an honest acknowledgment of my weaknesses and how they cloud my wants and needs.
What inspired you to share the song with the world?
It’s MileHi. ‘To Love & Lie.’ sounds exactly how I want people to hear me. It’s R&B, it’s pop, it’s alternative, it’s black. It’s everything.
It’s the song I want all my people to play over and over. This is the one I can’t wait to perform live.
