‘Reform’ is the brand new electro-pop release from the talented Northampton-based four-piece act Kinships. As the follow-up to their previous hit ‘Deeper’, ‘Reform’ sees the band continue on their synthy, dreamy, delicate musical journey. Subtle drums meet airy keys and beautiful, soulful vocal harmonies that simply take you away for a little while. A song that’s about rebuilding oneself into the person they’d hoped to be, having previously lost a sense of who they were, Kinships show an extraordinary knack not just for songwriting, but for storytelling as well. “Feather your touch, keep your heart close to mine, burn it all up and lay me in the fire… reform me out of light.”
Having formed in 2019, the band have steadily gained a dedicated and loyal fan base that we at Indie Top 39 feel is richly deserved. We can’t wait to hear what they do next!
‘Reform’ will take you on a synthy, airy, dreamy little journey that you don’t want to end.

What does the song mean to you?
‘Reform’ is a song about losing yourself. About realising that, somewhere along the way, you lost a sense of who you are and what you wanted to be. It’s a song about knowing that, acknowledging and feeling the pain of it, and starting again, trying to rebuild yourself into the person you’d hoped to be.
Tell us about your creative process and how the song came to be?
The song came about from a few sessions where we shared a project with some nice chords from the Prophet synth we have. Aoife then did her magic on it and made the chorus sound the way it does and the song was done – we then kind of felt it had to be one we released as a single.

When did you realise that music is what you wanted to do?
Music has always been what we wanted to do – there was no realisation.
