Phoenix-based power rock trio, Jane N’ The Jungle, recently dropped their brand new EP, and its title track ‘Ocean Creatures’ is a song that we at Indie Top 39 feel you just have to hear! The fierce and fiery female-fronted band draw you in slowly, with a breezy guitar and airy drums, and then effortlessly build the track up to its cracking, rocking, and anthemic chorus. ‘Ocean Creatures’ was born from one of the most frightening experiences I can imagine. Vocalist Jordan White was hit by a car travelling at over 100mph, and the tune serves as something of the musical version of her out-of-body experience at the time. “It was like imagining ocean creatures flying in space thinking that they were probably angels,” says White. The outfit draws on inspiration from acts like Garbage, The Smashing Pumpkins, and No Doubt, but there’s an unquestionable freshness and originality to their sound that we just can’t quite get enough of at the moment!
It’s no wonder Jane N’ The Jungle gets the sort of recognition that they do. ‘Ocean Creatures’ is yet another phenomenal track from a band that never fails to impress!

What does the song mean to you?
‘Ocean Creatures’ is the title track off of our new EP, and it’s inspired by an out of body experience I (Jordan White) had that felt like floating in space trapped in an aura alien like state, while being hit by a car at over a 100mph impact.
Tell us about your creative process and how the song came to be?
I wanted that foreign alien like feeling to resonate in the song and visuals. We recorded the song with Chuck Alkazian at Pearl Sound Studios in Canton, MI in 2021. I actually didn’t think this would be one of the songs that we would record so I was happy when the guys wanted to record it. The song turned out pretty similar to the demo with a few extra elements added in production.
What inspired you to share the song with the world?
The guys pushed me to record this song. At first I thought the song was too raw and out of the box, but they told me that that’s what made the song so special and why it needed to be heard. I didn’t want to describe my story and the car accident in the lyrics so instead used the super natural feeling I had and put it into words to describe the story of “‘cean Creatures’. This carried over into the visuals for the music video.
