California-based alternative indie-rockers, Hot Lime Canary, recently dropped the second single from their upcoming debut full-length album, and it’s a hazy, psychedelic, groovy little treat. It showcases a more lowkey sound when compared to their debut single ‘Make Me Dance’, but this shouldn’t really come as any big surprise. The unique thing about Hot Lime Canary is that each band member contributes as songwriters and vocalists – how cool is that!? Now, getting back to ‘Cool Water’, the tune is gritty, and almost a little raw at times, but it all just comes together whenever the chorus kicks back in. Yup, I have been walking around and singing “fortune cookie, roll the dice, rookie 8-ball lay it out to dry” for most of the day. Last year, the band recorded their full-length album, and they’ve decided to release each track individually, two weeks apart from each other, over the next 6 months. We’ll be listening 🙂

What does the song mean to you?
What’s it look like from outer space? Nurturing their gardens, so affectionate. We all just on a rock floating in space. A box full of days, a spec in time. Going all in, to set the water on fire. What do you think it means?
Which Netflix series or movie would you like your music to be featured in?
This song gives off massive Bond vibes, but it’s not really about where we want it to be featured, it’s about the filmmaker needing a vibe/emotion for a moment and feeling it. If they feel our music can exponentially enhance a moment in their story, then that’s what it’s there for – netflix, prime, fricken pbs or bbc, it doesn’t matter to us as long as it works.
What do you want to achieve in the next 12 months with your music?
You ever see that clip of a bobcat that, from a seated position on one side of a snowy bank, launches itself over a streaming, ice cold river? Imagine that the river is all the bullshit in the music industry. The miscommunications, the dishonesty, the ego and desire. Then, fwooop! Skrrrt! See ya! All we want to do is supply a vibe. But specifically in the next 12 months, we’d expect big things – a live experience off these songs we’re releasing, an emerging brand with unique merchandising designs, animated shorts and characters, and most of all, some banging new music. Someone sign these boys! We onto something! Where you at Ye?!
What does success mean to you?
It’s not about where we are going, because as long as you put one foot in front of the other and never stop, you’ll get there. We’re not reinventing the wheel. But, it is about how you get there. Without abandoning your friends, by staying diligent, being kind and supportive people, truly dedicating ourselves to the art and all facets of it that extend beyond music, the atmosphere, environment, the world beneath the surface. If we can truly cultivate something of an experience for people, then that will be success. It’s about fun at the end of the day. It’s just music, we do it, but most people just want it for a moment of escape, to smile and nod ya head and sing-a-long.
