We at Indie Top 39 have been following feeble since the musician’s return to the scene in 2020. Based in Kållered, Sweden, Stefan Ekenberg is the brains behind the indie-pop project, and his brand new single ‘For You’ is one of the most tender and beautiful love songs that we’ve heard so far this year. Lush acoustic guitar, big open drums, and the calming, nostalgia-laced vocals of the artist himself are all on full display, and there’s a genuineness to feeble’s sound that is just too exciting to ignore!
Written in the spring of this year, Ekenberg says that ‘For You’ was hugely inspired by the works of songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Ethan Gruska. Dedicated to his wife, the tune examines true love and the lengths one is willing to go to for their partner. It’s an absolutely smashing song and feeble is quickly becoming one of our favourite artists!

What does the song mean to you?
‘For You’ is a love song showing that you are willing to do anything for the one you love. But it is also about not bothering about problems before they appear. However, when they do, you are willing to face whatever it is you are facing for love.
What inspired you to share the song with the world?
The song is a love song and is dedicated to my wife. In Sweden we celebrated Mother’s Day on May the 29th and I wrote the song as a sort of gift to the mother of my children.
What are your favourite lyrics in the song?
“I’ve burned bridges needed to swim, across oceans to prove my love to you.” The double meaning is probably very obvious but I also like the humour that you have to swim after you burned bridges.

All about emotions. If you can’t express emotion in music it’s just a stack of notes. I try to tell a story and the vocals, instruments, and mixing are just tools for bringing emotion to that story. ‘For You’ is unconventional for me – a love song. It’s about the struggle of true love. Usually my lyrics are sad. But this is as happy as it gets in my song writing.
