‘Ten Years Time’ is the warm and enchanting debut single from Berlin-based singer/songwriter Denise Dombrowski, who performs under the moniker of Elsdeer. Dedicated to her father, who passed away ten years ago, the indie-folk tune is beautifully crafted and richly layered. You truly feel the emotion and sincerity in Elsdeer’s vocal performance, and it’s this vocal performance that has us at Indie Top 39 extremely excited.
Heartfelt, profound, euphonious. And yes, that is her on the acoustic guitar and the violin as well! Recorded and mixed at The Famous Gold Watch Studios in Elsdeer’s home city, there’s a nostalgic and otherworldly atmosphere created on the track that just sucks you in straight away. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – 2022 really is the year of the debut! And ‘Ten Years Time’ is yet another ridiculously good example of this!

What does the song mean to you?
‘Ten Years Time’ has a special meaning to me as it is not only the first song that I ever released as a singer/songwriter but also defines a very specific moment I arrived at one year ago. After losing confidence in my musicianship for a couple of years I started to write songs again and ‘Ten Years Time’ came to be. The song deals with my father’s passing and finding some form of closure many years after the event. The song embodies the feeling of growing and healing from an experience with the help of time.
Who do you hope the song resonates with the most?
People that also went through a dramatic experience in their lives. And I hope that it will give them some form of new perspective on the experience as it shows how time can shift a view from a darker to a bit more brighter tone.
What inspired you to share the song with the world?
The beautiful folk music community in Berlin inspired me to share the song with the world! After playing my songs in front of my friends and different audiences in Berlin, people started asking me whether I have any recordings! So here is the first one!

A real lifesaver! Especially during the pandemic, it was playing music that kept me happy and going in the dark times. I don’t think I could have kept my positive mindset or sanity if I hadn’t kept playing music for the past couple of years.
