‘Telephone’ is the incredible brand new, self-produced single from Liverpool-based singer/songwriter Daisy Gill. By telling a somewhat tongue-in-cheek tale of an old, cheating boyfriend, Gill has produced one of her fiercest and most fiery tunes to date! A poppy, hip-hop-inspired track, ‘Telephone’ is catchy-as-hell, super fresh, and wonderfully energetic. It also allows for the songstress’ powerful and penetrating vocals to shine through brightly.
Inspired by artists and groups like Alicia Keys, Anne Marie, and TLC, Daisy Gill wears her heart firmly on her sleeve. She’s here to make a statement, and nobody will stand in her way! At just over two and a half minutes, ‘Telephone’ is proof that dynamite often comes in small packages. It’s an absolutely smashing tune from start to finish, and we at Indie Top 39 cannot wait to hear what this talented artist gets up to next!
An infectious, fresh, and powerful tune, ‘Telephone’ truly has it all! Big up Daisy Gill!

What does the song mean to you?
This song is a real-life story of the time that a guy I was dating was so out of it, that he drunk-dialled me with another girl and had no recollection of it. I was still really young at the time so I didn’t know better and I didn’t call him out on it, but I knew. It’s funny to look back on it now as I’m older and I find it kind of laughable, but it’s real life and I know tons of people have been through something similar if not the exact same situation.
What do you hope to achieve with this song?
I hope people can relate to it and that I’m not the only person who’s had god-awful relationships haha!
Tell us about your creative process and how the song came to be?
I wrote the song in lockdown when I was looking back at different times in my life and I remembered what that guy had put me through and thought “I’m gonna write a song about that because it’s too funny not to!” I wanted the song to be really cheeky in the production and that’s why I kept that 90s hip-hop feel to the track. I wanted to really just take the piss a bit which is reflected in the music video.
What does success mean to you?
To inevitably find joy in life in some form. It doesn’t have to last forever because people also think happiness has to be an everyday emotion but it’s not. You’ll never know what it was like to be sad if you weren’t happy. But if you have a roof over your head and you can feed yourself and somewhat enjoy this life then you are most definitely a success. People think success is having a huge house, a fancy car, and a lot of money, but it’s not. It’s what you make of it. That could be raising a family or working a 9-5 job! As long as it brings some joy then it’s a success.
