‘Don’t Run at Night’ is the incredibly catchy, synth-infused, indie rock single from London based multi-instrumentalist Blake Anthony Robson. Shifting his overall style from Americana-inspired folk to a more melodic and electronic sound, the talented musician proves his versatility and adaptability once again. It’s no surprise that Robson draws on inspiration from a wide variety of artists; The Strokes, Father John Misty, The Beatles and Johnny Cash just to name a few. And you hear little fragments of all of them scattered throughout ‘Don’t Run at Night’. “Get out of bed and repair your life that’s laying on the chair,” is a beautifully poetic line that stands out for me, and proves yet again that Blake is not only an accomplished musician but a skillful lyricist and storyteller too. He is currently working on two (yes two!) new albums that he hopes to release very soon. We at Indie Top 39 can’t wait to hear them!
Blake Anthony Robson’s new musical direction is expertly showcased in the wonderfully warm sounds of ‘Don’t Run at Night’.

What does the song mean to you?
It’s a song that I originally wrote as an acoustic and then one day I played it on electric piano and found that I preferred it that way and it gave it a whole new life and feel.
What do you hope to achieve with this song?
I hope that this song can help me to be heard by as many people as possible. It has already had a great reaction, and that’s just from little old me doing my own promo. Imagine the impact it could have if I actually had a label and a radio station on my side!
Tell us about your creative process and how the song came to be?
The foundation of the song was recorded by myself in my flat in North London. We then recorded the drums in Dalston, the bass in Hackney and the guitar in Sweden. It was mostly done remotely due to the joy of lockdown.
Which Netflix series or movie would you like your music to be featured in?
I would love the song to be aligned with some sort of dark neon 80’s B Movie type film, or a True Detective type series. The music video I made for the song is in the style of 80’s /B-Movie/Thriller/Horror, with a bit of anime mixed in there.
