This Sunday in particular marks a special moment for us at Indie Top 39. This will officially be the 10th edition of our New Music Sunday playlists. Here are 9 of our favourite picks from this weeks surge of excellent new music.
David Ost » Some Of Your Songs
We interviewed David Ost following his 2019 debut single ‘Gamblers of Romance’. We absolutely loved this track forts groove, depth, and atmosphere. This week, we were blessed with David’s second single ‘Some Of Your Songs’. This track definitely brings a more mellow mood but shows the same level of musical depth that we adored from his first single.
fiction. & Jahkoy » I’m Not Superman
fiction. and Jahkoy comes together to collaborate on this fantastic new single. Stylistically, it feels like a brilliant blend of electronic pop, melodic trap and blues. The sheer colourfulness of this highly indulgent track simply screams summer. We quite frankly hope that social distancing rules are lifted in time for us to be accompanied by this awesome song and the summer heat.
Hello Victim » Out of It Alive
An apt title for anybody looking forward to seeing the other side of the current state of affairs. This song is absolutely perfect for celebrating being able to venture back outside, with its energetic, uplifting, and downright awesome electronic beat and fabulous vocals.
Her Songs » 4AM Disco
Her Songs is a unique collective of five separate artists, which include Marie Dahlstrom, Emily C. Browning, Emmavie, The Naked Eye, and Dani Murcia. Each of these artists implements their own talents into creating this brilliantly chilled tune, which also packs tonnes of depth and a gorgeous groove.
Jacob Clarke » Oticl
Oticl is a brilliantly intimate tune, with some unique and very enjoyable use of acoustic strings. Despite fitting quite well into being an acoustic song, this track also stands out by having an almost reggae vibe to it too. We all done this beautifully indulgent piece.
Kate Lomas » Hazy
With her first single of 2020, Kate Lomas comes to us with a quirky electronic tune with a highly urban atmosphere. We are big fans of the glistening, echoing electronic sounds that lace this new single and the incredibly smooth vocal style feels very current and accessible.
Kathleen Frances » Define
After her feature on Blackboxx’s ‘Province’, Kathleen Frances has finally released her first stand-alone single with ‘Define’. Her deep and haunting vocals pair perfectly with the mood-setting piano melody. This song definitely proves that a minimal sound can convey a great deal. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for our interview with this incredible artist and her debut single.
Mini Trees » Slip Away
Normally at this time of year, a warm and spring-like sound is always welcome. Thankfully for us, Mini Trees’ ‘Slip Away’ is exactly that. With a soft and upbeat rhythm, along with its comforting guitar licks, this song feels very natural, and is the perfect accompaniment to a nice bit of relaxation on a warm spring day.
TENDER » Living
Even after releasing a twelve-track album only last year, TENDER keep the awesome tunes coming. Their latest single ‘Living’ is attached to an earlier single the artist released this year, titled ‘6 in the Morning’ but while that track was definitely enjoyable in its own right, ‘Living’ sticks out as very unique with its fluttering electronic sounds, paired with a highly indulgent ambience.
We have picked only nine songs that stood out this week, however below you can find the playlist that features 39 songs.
