Malin Wättring » I Want The Truth
Powerhouse vocals define the energy of ‘I Want The Truth’
INDIE TOP 39
Repetitive guitar riffs greet you on ‘I Want The Truth’, the latest by Malin Wättring. When the vocals enter, they push and pull at the texture and color of the song. Sometimes sounding like they’re rock n roll, and at others leaning into the jazzier elements. Repetition in the rhythm section allowed Wättring to have all the space she needed to set the mood. Not only did she set the mood, however, but her strong vocals also defined the song’s sound and demanded the listener’s attention. This awesome release shows off the many collaborating artists’ duality, with its gentle lulls and the magnificent highs I was consistently entranced.

From the synths to the rolling drums, the cohesiveness of this collaboration was as tight as a knot. No one voice trumped over another, and instead would play off the energy of one another. For Tuesday & Emorie » Grow This Garden
Aptly named, ‘Grow This Garden’ is as delicate as a rose
INDIE TOP 39
Beautiful only begins to describe ‘Grow This Garden’ by For Tuesday. This easy-going release pushes and pulls like the tide. Gentle vocal lines float overtop the ambient instrumental. Busy string lines seem to drift underneath setting the chords but never more than just the foundation. It allowed the lead vocals to lead the song through its many different moodsThe emotional lyricism and storytelling produces vivid imagery while thick vocal harmonies blanket you in warmth. Using acoustic records to open/close the sound gave the song a homebrew vibe and helped wrap everything up nicely. A beautiful song about faith that will bring comfort to any and everybody.

INDIE TOP 39
On “Conflicted”, the latest release by the incredibly talented Jesse Brady, easy-going pop vibes meet powerhouse vocals. This lovely song manages to be vulnerable and personable, while still having all the energy of a true pop anthem. Beautiful vocals dance playfully alongside the effervescent instrumental. Brady demands attention without ever working very hard at all. Her awesome vocal melodies were easy to follow and sounded phenomenal when paired with the cool rhythm section. Not only that but they fit the mood of everything without losing that sense of personality. Instead of sounding like some crazy famous/out-of-touch celebrity, “Conflicted” sounded like it came from a close friend.

Nicole Dash Jones » Deeper
Whether at the gym or in the club, ‘Deeper’ is perfect
INDIE TOP 39
Nicole Dash Jones, the powerful pop artist from LA, sounds incredible on her latest release ‘Deeper’. Relaxed vocals are layered alongside powerful versions that bring out the best parts of one another. They helped give the song its relaxed yet oddly high-energy vibe. At points leaning one way to build the song up, while at others mellowing itself out. Busy synthesizers give her plenty of room to soar without stealing the spotlight. Every different voice rounded out the others in the texture resulting in this awesome release. The nostalgic sounding instrumental paired with the strong vocal melodies awesomely. These among many reasons are why I can’t recommend ‘Deeper’ enough.
