We are already over halfway into July, and after what seemed like a long period of weather which definitely felt like it didn’t belong in July at all, we definitely seem to have some warm and sunny days incoming.
And what better way to accompany this with some amazing new music. Luckily for us, we were spoiled with so many atmospheric and indulgent tracks. Here are our top nine picks for this week’s mountain of amazing indie vibes.
Track Of The Week »
David Ost » The Deep End
While we have been thoroughly impressed with the previous two singles put out by the Hamburg-based singer-songwriter David Ost, his third release, titled ‘The Deep End’ shows even more growth in his ambient and soothing sound. There’s just something about ‘The Deep End’ that just feels so polished and complete, not to mention that there’s a brilliant sense of progression and the kind of ambience that’s incredibly soul-warming. You can find our chat with David Ost about his brand new single on IGTV.

ANNNA » Silver Spoons
Starting out in 2019, the Amsterdam-based producer and singer ANNNA had no trouble establishing her glistening and colourful electro-pop sound. And with her latest single ‘Silver Spoons’, that swiftly developed aesthetic comes into full effect on this indulgent and smoothly paced yet also layered and exciting sound, and we definitely feel that ‘Silver Spoons’ is both accessible and addictive because of this.

Leeem » Laudanum
Leeem is the result of one man’s lockdown mindset, and urges to scratch “new musical itches”. And we must say that with Leeem’s debut single ‘Laudanum’, it definitely scratched some of our musical itches too. ‘Laudanum’ is vast, moody, and highly atmospheric. We could clearly tell that Leeem has a tonne of creativity to release, in what we hope will come in Leeem’s future musical pieces.

Five years on from Marcus Valance’s debut EP Dust, the UK singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist returns with a powerful message, one that comes in the form of a brand new single ‘The Fight’. This track is an incredibly heartfelt telling of our fight for a more free world within our current political, economic and social climate. Mone » Rat
The sophomore single release from Berlin-based artist Mone, following her 2020 debut ‘Crocodile Kisses’, ‘Rat’ is insanely moody, gritty and dark in its tone. But on top of this, Mone brings us these qualities in a way that has such a rare sense of charm to it. As a result, ‘Rat’ effortlessly stands as one of this week’s infectious and memorable tracks.

Talkslow » Feline
Moving on from one track with an animal-themed title to another, we now arrive at Brighton triad Talkslow’s second single release of 2020, which is titled ‘Feline’. While the band have had no trouble developing a super-catchy, upbeat and nocturnal aesthetic, ‘Feline’ seems to break that mould a little by being much slower and smoother in its sense of pacing. This allowed Talkslow’s new single to perfectly soothe our senses, and effortlessly immerse us in its lustrous atmosphere.

The Cat Magic » Just the Way
‘Just the Way’ is the first 2020 release, and the third release from the alternative Bristol-based three-piece The Cat Magic since their 2018 debut EP, Lately. While the band themselves would happily say that they had been influenced by the likes of Tame Impala, we can really see the similarities in this new track. ‘Just The Way’ has a phenomenally warm and whimsical atmosphere that really enchanted us.
