ELAINA BEL is a 5 piece Brighton based band who released debut single “So Far”.
After the last three years touring and gigging in Brighton, The Cotswolds and Spain, ELAINA BEL have been developing her unique sound and style. Elaina?s emotive lyrical harmony combined with her powerful vocal and soulful tone provides an innovative mix of jazz and soul giving a unique interpretation of classic styles.
I didn’t even notice how I ended up listening to the song on repeat for nearly an hour. To celebrate the release I got in touch with Katryna who’s dreamy vocal took me on a journey. I completely lost the sense of time, closed my eyes and wanted to find the answer what will happen in 50 years from now.
Congratulations, your debut single “So Far” can already be found online. How do you feel now?
Absolute relieve. It’s been an emotional ride and some really hard work to get this single ready for release. It’s been a solo job promoting everything so some reassurance that I’m doing the right thing or that it’s actually any good will be lovely! It’s been such a massive learning curve for me, and I have done it now, which means I have the confidence to keep releasing music and pushing things forward. I think the first hurdle is always the hardest.
What inspired you to write “So Far”?
The song is kinda a mash-up of feelings at the time, partly about going to the city and feeling overwhelmed by the pace of things and partly living in a country that’s so wealthy and feeling guilty about it! It’s slightly political but also mixed in with some personal emotions too.
Music to me is something that truly makes you happy
The feeling of writing a song and playing it to an audience for the first time is indescribable, it’s a kick that doesn’t get from anything else in my life. However, music for me is also my biggest stress, if I could take that away and just have the purely creative side I would be the happiest person alive, we can all dream right!
What can we expect from you in 2018?
We’re recording the rest of our current set in a few weeks and will be releasing them in staggered single releases over the next 8 months, which is super exciting. Unfortunate, our band will be dotted around the globe over the next year, so we will be gigging acoustically, hopefully doing some dates in Europe toward the end of summer but they haven’t quite been confirmed yet, but will announce it on our social media. We will also be releasing a remix of “So Far”, a video and a bonus acoustic track exclusively to our Soundcloud page, so check that out!
Today also sees the launch of Rose & Bel, a bespoke merchandise company, releasing a collection formed from the collaboration between Elaina and the talented fashion designer Georgia Rose. Taking inspiration from nature and an earthy colour palette, the designs are unique and timeless. Rose & Bel promote being an ethically aware company using quality fabrics and handprinted traditional dyeing techniques to achieve a quality product that can be part of an everyday wardrobe.
