Brighton based singer-songwriter SABRINA GUNSTON released a new track “Bad As You Are”. We wanted to hear more about the story behind the song.
We’ve been following Sabrina’s career for a while and we are super happy to see a more badass version of her with the release of a new single.
Tell us about your journey up until the release of your new track?
The journey has been quite stressful, to say the least. It?s hard doing it alone and knowing which promotional techniques will work this time around! However, it?s very satisfying once it?s all done!
What inspired you to show a more badass version of yourself musically?
To be honest, this song just came to me. I was fed up. Just because you are ?seen? to be always smiling, laughing, having fun and talking, people seem to assume you never have a sad or bad day. Everybody gets down days – we are all human.
I enjoy this badass side – I?m always looked at as innocent and sweet but you know, if you mess with me, I can be just bad as you are

What’s the meaning behind these lyrics?
?I don?t like sleeping for too long? – I?m sure a lot of creative minds will agree with this. I always get really good melodies when I?m trying to sleep so I have to get my phone out and record them as voice memos. I also find it really hard to turn off my mind.
?You call me bitter, you call me sweet? – at this point you can?t quite make out what I?m like but you know I?m a bit of both.
?I?m like an angel with wings but just as bad as you are? – I?m a sweet person just like an angel but I can be as bad as you. As evil as you – If I wanted to be.
What do you do when you can?t sleep and mind won?t switch off?
I?ve now brought myself some Lavender spray which you spray onto your pillows and duvet and that helps me relax. I?ve also started reading which makes my eyes tired.
Do you remember any situation when you saw instant karma at its best?
Oooooh. That?s a good question and I?m afraid I?ve got no good answer BUT I 100% believe in Karma!! Do you?
What you got planned for 2019?
2019 is going to be a good year. I can sense it already. I have a video coming out soon for “Bad As You Are”. I?ve also got some gigs coming up but are still yet to be announced. Then I?m going to be locked in a room and write until I feel like I?ve cleansed my body and mind. Let?s just say, September is going to be a good month.
