2017? was the year when our chart grew into Indie top 39. We already looked at the songs from 50 to 26 and now it’s time to have a look at the songs from number 25 to 1.
25. DADDY WAS A MILKMAN » Mr. Nevermet
For the second year in a row, we start annual TOP 25 with DADDY WAS A MILKMAN – singer-songwriter from Lithuania.?”Mr. Nevermet” spent 1 week at the top spot back in the summer.

24. WILL KILLEN » In My Arms
WILL KILLEN is a singer-songwriter from Leeds. “In My Arms” completely blew my mind and spent 7 weeks at the top of the chart (including 2 weeks in 2018). I think it’s important to mention that Will produced this song by himself in his bedroom.

23. PATRICK BAKER » Only”
PATRICK BAKER originally is a producer and vocalist based in Washington, USA. Even though his track” Only” didn’t reach the top spot, it did so well, that it made the annual countdown.

22. KUDU BLUE » Sugar Lemz
Without a doubt, a 4-piece band from Brighton KUDU BLUE is one of the biggest discoveries of the year. “Sugar Lemz” is one of 5 singles to enter the chart in 2017.

MORE: KUDU BLUE » “Perfection is achieved when there is nothing left to take away”
21. AMBER MARK » Lose My Cool

Record Label: Downtown / Interscope Records
17. AQUILO » I Could Fight On The Wall
AQUILO is one of my favourite bands since I am running this chart. In 2017 they managed to release 2 albums and handful of singles, two of those reached number 1 position, but only “I Could Fight On The Wall” ended up in the TOP 25 list.
Record Label: Universal Music / An Island Records
16. TALOS » This Is Us Colliding
TALOS is a band from Ireland. “This Is Us Colliding” came into my world when I was going through a very challenging time. I guess not only I connected with the song, but it made me reflect on the situation from a different angle. The song reached number one.

15. BILLY LOCKETT » More
I remember when I heard “More” for the first time, it was at the same time when HARRY STYLES released his debut single. England was obsessed with that track while in my opition BILLY LOCKETT should have been the one in the charts. Of coure the song reached number one and was the first of several singles to enter the chart.

14. TOM GRENNAN » Found What I’ve Been Looking For
TOM GRENNAN seems to be shooting to the stars. Last few years turned him into a rock star. In 2016 he had 2 songs in the TOP 25, this year is exactly the same situation. “Found What I’ve Been Looking For” reached number 1.
Record Label: Insanity Records / Sony Music
13. TOM GRENNAN » Praying
After seeing Tom perform at the sold out UNION CHAPEL, “Praying” shot to number two. Sadly it is the last time when we see TOM GRENNAN on the chart as after he is signed to the big boys we will give more space to the artists who are independent.
Record Label: Insanity Records / Sony Music
12. YOUNGR FT. KUTLE KHAN » Out Of My System
“Out Of My System” was originally released in 2016. Despite the song having been used is several commercial, it didn’t make into the charts. Then YOUNGR decided to collaborate with different artists and this is how a new version with KUTLE KHAN was born. The song was so catchy it went to become a number one, again.
Record Label: Universal Music
11. GUNDELACH » Garden
Kai GUNDELACH is a singer-songwriter from Norway who’s single “Fjernsynet” was named as the best song of 2016. Even though he had many songs to enter the chart, “Garden” stood out and was one of the tracks I streamed the most.
Record Label: U OK ?
10. JAGARA » Real Love
“Real Love” is one of five tracks I streamed the most in 2017. The song reached number one during the English summer. JAGARA is one of the few bands that I’ve seen perform live more than twice. Three times to be correct.
Record Label: Unsigned
MORE: JAGARA » “A band is only as good as their songs”
9. RICHARD MAULE » How You See Me
Even though “How You See Me” appeared in Youtube years ago, the song is so magical that after hearing it performed live it just became a part of me. The song was writter to his ex-girlfriend. The song managed to spend one week at the top of the chart.
Record Label: Unsigned
8. SKINNY LIVING FT. BARNEY ARTIST » Only I
SKINNY LIVING is one of the bands that are playing with the big boys now. From all the songs they produced, this is still my favourite one.
Record Label: Sony Music
7. KUDU BLUE » Drink Alone
KUDU BLUE is the only band in less than a yearI’ve seen live four times. After the first time? I wanted to get to know them better. We made an article and that was the first of many articles about the artists. Even though “Drink Alone” didn’t reach the top spot (sorry about that), it’s still my favourite track from the gang.
Record Label: Unsigned
MORE: KUDU BLUE » “Perfection is achieved when there is nothing left to take away”
6. SARAH WALK » Little Black Book
It’s insane how universe can introduce you to a song that is actually speaking about what you are going through. When “Little Black Book” entered the chart, I was going through some very weird emotional stuff and it really made heal much quicker. Thank you Sarah!
Record Label: Little Indian Records

5. JAMES MACLAINE » Burnt
“Burnt” is one of the hidden treasures of 2017. It is very hard to find any information about JAMES MACLAINE and his Facebook page is not active. I reached out to him to check if he is ok. I’m glad to know that he is just taking a break to study. We will be waiting for your new music!

Record Label: Unsigned
MORE: Alessandro Ciminata » “I believe there is room for everyone”
2. RAY HODGE » If It’s Easy
“If It’s Easy” is such a powerful statement that comes from a singer-songwriter from the USA – RAY HODGE.
There is something in the overall mood of the song that brings me back to BRETON’s ’15 Minutes’. The song spent three weeks at the top spot.
Record Label: Unsigned
1. VINCI » Lions
Record Label: Unsigned
I was hooked on “Lions” from the very first sentense. No surprise that it was the most streamed song for me in 2017 and it totally smashed the Indie Top 39. VINCI’s live performance in London nearly a year ago was one of the smallest gigs I’ve been to. However, they poured their heart out. The band from Ireland has just released a new single and hopefully they will be getting more attention they deserve. “Lions” spent three weeks at the top spot.
