Emmrose » The Feeling’s Mutual
Emmrose offers a unique artistic formula, made up of poignant lyrical themes balanced against a more introspective, alternative and dreamy sonic background
INDIE TOP 39
Hailing from New York, alt-pop newcomer Emmrose continues her glorious path to recognition. Having got us used to her refined and heartfelt songwriting, she’s once again confirming it in ‘The Feeling’s Mutual’, a passionate gem recounting the painful yet beneficial process of getting rid of a toxic friendship. The young American songwriter had gained our firm attention with her previous effort, the beautifully charming gem ‘The Gallows’, already showcasing her unique artistic formula, made up of poignant lyrical themes balanced against a more introspective, alternative and dreamy sonic background. ‘The Feeling’s Mutual’ follows the same direction, and we couldn’t be prouder! Alias Nasir » Pretty Boy
Nasir produced the track himself, creating the perfect sonic landscape where his charismatic and groovy vocal flow can flourish
INDIE TOP 39
We are not pure hip-hop connoisseurs, but ‘Pretty Boy’ by Alias Nasir positively impressed us, boasting such a unique and fresh sound. Working out of Tempe, Arizona, Nasir produced the track himself, creating the perfect sonic landscape where his charismatic and groovy vocal flow can flourish. There’s something about the track that makes it pop. Perhaps a slight general distortion, driving the vocals into fuzzy territories and transforming the drums into crisp, hard-hitting goodness. A great release from Alias Nasir, get on it!

Jewelia » No Lover
Jewelia has been building her career at a steady pace, alternating intriguing and peculiar original material with poignant and personal renditions of famous tunes
INDIE TOP 39
Catering to our summer-tune needs, singer and songwriter Jewelia returns with a bubbly and groovy offering, the pop number ‘No Lover’. Taking a page out of the Dua Lipa manual, the London-based talent channels disco and retro influences, building a track that perfectly fits the definition of ‘mainstream pop’. The London-based talent’s precise and evocative vocals are framed into a contemporary, expertly-crafted production, highlighting the catchy and relatable songwriting, perfect for being sung along to. While we are impressed by Jewelia’s artistry and sharp musicianship, we must also note that we were indeed expecting it. The young artist has been building her career at a steady pace, alternating intriguing and peculiar original material with poignant and personal renditions of famous tunes. Klaverson » I’m Coming Home
Configuring itself as a slow-paced, poignant gem, ‘I’m Coming Home’ offers a glimpse of Klaverson’s multi-sided artistry
INDIE TOP 39
If you happen to be a fan of leftfield electronica, perhaps with an enhanced vocal sensibility, we have a track you’ll instantly love. Its author takes the identity of Klaverson, debuting this week with ‘I’m Coming Home’. Featuring subtle Chet Faker and James Blake references, the Kent-based artist creates nonetheless his personal sonic universe, layering fields recording, light soundscapes, haunting beats and mangled vocals inserts. Configuring itself as a slow-paced, poignant gem, the track offers a glimpse of Klaverson’s multi-sided artistry, delivering strong and emotional melodies coupled with a fresh and never-obvious production. A gloomy and somber visualizer (available on Youtube) translates the song’s mood into relatable imagery.

SamKing » close 2 you
SamKing manifests dream pop and indie-rock influences, while dipping everything in his personal, exciting sonic sauce
INDIE TOP 39
Continuing on the indie theme, we were absolutely blown away by the quality of SamKing’s latest release. Emerging out of Reno, in the US, the talented newcomer manifests dream pop and indie-rock influences, while dipping everything in his personal, exciting sonic sauce. ‘close 2 you’ is the project’s latest effort, a melancholic love anthem that builds its force over dreamy guitar riffs and expressive fuzziness, celebrating a successful fifth release to date for the American rocker. What’s more impressive, is the honest DIY aesthetic SamKing proudly champions. Sure, nothing new under the sun, but Sam’s ability to create such perfect and engaging tunes only by working in his bedroom, with a laptop and a guitar, is a clear testament to the artist’s musical prowess.

sleepyhead » In Nature
‘In Nature’ channels early ‘2000 pop-punk flavouring while retaining a warm contemporary feel
INDIE TOP 39
If there’s one thing Britain can deliver, it’s Indie bands. Our latest obsession on that front is represented by a Manchester duo, offering a unique brand of pop-rock bathed in indie sensibilities and catchy songwriting. Calling themselves sleepyhead, the pair has been very active since last year, crowning it all with the EP ‘Blue’. Playing on their strengths, the group is now returning with ‘In Nature’, an engaging and nostalgic single that we are confident will easily catch the listeners’ attention. We particularly love their vocals, channeling a certain early ‘2000 pop-punk flavouring while retaining a warm contemporary feel. Recommended! A record you’ll love.

supergloom » See How They Run
Imagine a group of great musicians coming together and exploring shared musical taste, channelling everything into brand new compositions
INDIE TOP 39
Imagine a group of great musicians coming together and exploring shared musical taste, channeling everything into brand new compositions. That’s exactly what happened with supergloom, L.A.-based soft-rock outfit. Describing themselves as “Deerhunter meets Radiohead and invites their friends Grizzly Bear and Pink Floyd”, the group debuted earlier this year with three kaleidoscopic and lyrically rich singles: guitars and long, sustained keys help the band create ever-evolving moods, the perfect background for their emotional vocals and subtle harmonies. ‘See How They Run’ is the last installment in their artistic saga, out this week. In it, we find classic psychedelia together with supercharged vocal processing, helping their experimental side stand out. If you were looking for inspiration, supergloom is the band you must turn to. Recommended!
