‘Moonlight’ is the dreamy and ethereal new single from London-based alternative-pop artist MOLTENO. As a vocalist, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, MOLTENO has been making entrancing and captivating tunes for a few years. To me, ‘Moonlight’ feels like the culmination of a lot of hard work, self-belief, and dedication to one’s craft. An airy, synthy, hazy little number, the track just transports you somewhere else. It’s a sonic and emotional journey of epic proportions.
After experiencing lucid dreaming, a type of dream in which the dreamer becomes aware that they are dreaming, MOLTENO decided to explore the idea of travel and connection via dreams. “What if we truly wake up in our dreams and travel by moonlight?” ponders the artist. The bottom line is this. ‘Moonlight’ is a spellbinding tune from a musician with seemingly limitless ability and potential. And we at Indie Top 39 can’t wait to hear from her again!
‘Moonlight’ is a captivating, entrancing, and immersive tune from an artist who we’re falling pretty hard for!

What does the song mean to you?
I wrote the song after experiencing lucid dreaming, so it feels cathartic to have written it. To me, it represents trippy, hyper-visual dreams. I was in a dream-like state when I wrote it, imaging dream travel via moonlight.
Tell us about your creative process and how the song came to be?
I originally wrote the topline over a drum and bass beat after I woke up from a lucid dream. I then took the song to producers Hans Engström and Jan Oldaeus who were based in Manchester. Together we recorded and produced the track – layering programmed drums, dreamy synths and guitar lines. Loved recording in Manchester!! Back in London, Jose Cubides layered up more vocals, added more FX and ambience, and added live bass and more to the drums before mixing and mastering.
Who do you hope the song resonates with the most?
Daydreamers and people with a curious imagination…
Which Netflix series or movie would you like your music to be featured in?
Stranger Things – I think the 80s dreamy synths would make ‘Moonlight’ a good fit!
