Simeon Hammond Dallas is a London-based musician and all-round badass who just released her cracking and potent new track called ‘A Hundred Lovers’. Putting her own unique spin on the classic Country rock sound, ‘A Hundred Lovers’ is an intoxicating blend of the aforementioned with a bluesy, rocky, and soulful underbelly. Written, arranged, and produced all by Dallas herself, the tune is a powerful anthem that amplifies the durability and resolve of an independent woman in a male-dominated world.
I have to say, it was Dallas’ vocals that caught my attention at first listen. Forceful when necessary, softly sweet at times, and full-on rockstar when she just feels the need to lets loose. Her range and prowess are truly something that we at Indie Top 39 haven’t heard in a while! With her second EP, ‘Make It Romantic’, scheduled for release later year this, remember the name Simeon Hammond Dallas.
‘A Hundred Lovers’ is a powerful, anthemic, and genre-blending track from a highly talented musician!
INDIE TOP 39
What does the song mean to you?
This song is a fun celebration of a woman doing what (and whom) she wants!
Who do you hope the song resonates with the most?
Women who have been subjected to the virgin/whore dichotomy and are tired of being told what they’re supposed to do.
Tell us about your creative process and how the song came to be?
I wrote this song after having a text conversation with my friend a couple of years ago when she asked me who I was currently dating and I told her I have a hundred lovers. I thought, “that’s a good name for a song”, and started writing couplets for the refrain.
What are your favourite lyrics in the song?
“I fall in and out of love like a wave”. I love it because it makes me imagine the sea and the tide coming in and out so naturally and beautifully and loving people like the ebb and flow of the tide feels beautiful and rich.
