Berlin-based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Nina Chiodin recently released her new single called ‘Cherries And Pearls’, and it’s a dreamy, mellow, and tender little tune that showcases just what Chiodin is all about. Serving as the follow-up to her incredibly successful hit ‘MORE’, ‘Cherries And Pearls’ continues in a similar jazzy and undeniably soulful way, as the musician expertly captures that beautiful sensation of feeling pure love and adoration for someone like you’ve never felt before.
“I get high on your lips and on the way you move your hips,” she sings. “I give you all of me, yet I’ve never felt this free.” Chiodin’s sultry and seductive vocal performance is yet another standout feature of the track and proves that, whilst still a young artist, she’s already nailed the confidence and self-assuredness side of things. With a new single scheduled for May 27th, we at Indie Top 39 cannot wait to hear what she does next!

What does the song mean to you?
I wrote ‘Cherries And Pearls’ last summer, when I experienced a sensation of love and admiration for someone like never before. So for me this song is an expression of adoration, desire, and affection for a person.
Tell us about your creative process and how the song came to be?
I wrote ‘Cherries And Pearls’ when I was visiting my hometown in Italy last summer. At first, it was an acoustic piece with piano and vocals, but I soon realized this song would sound best with a full band arrangement. With inspirations in mind such as Erykah Badu, Cleo Sol, and D’Angelo, I laid down a first draft of the arrangement. After showing it to my band, we came up with the final arrangement and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.
When did you realise that music is what you wanted to do?
Unlike most musicians, for me it wasn’t my first time on stage, or my first time writing a song. I realized music is what I wanted to do when I realised music is what I needed to do. I just felt that music is what brings me joy and that I couldn’t really be without it.
What would your life be like without music?
I honestly can’t picture a life without music. The first and last thing I do every day is listen to music and most of my time and energy goes into making music. It’s just the way I express myself and what I love doing most.
