Walsall-based indie-rockers The Assist recently released ‘Daydream’, and the groovy, infectious tune is a rather special one for the five-piece group. With their debut album scheduled for release in less than two weeks, the band have stated that ‘Daydream’ “is selling the album for us…and we strongly believe in this track as a flagship for what is still to come.” I have to say, if this is a sign of things to come, I think we’re all in for quite a treat soon.
The song itself is a classic indie-rock song in every sense, featuring warm and melodic guitar work, tight and punchy drumming, a catchy little bassline, and the lyrical and vocal prowess of Mikey Stanton. With each listen, ‘Daydream’ just gets better and better, and you pick up little nuances along the way that you didn’t previously hear. We at Indie Top 39 can’t wait to hear their debut album next month!
‘Daydream’ is the shimmering indie-rock tune that you need in your life right now! An instant classic from The Assist!
