‘Buy The Ticket’ is the first official release of any kind from Florida-based multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer Jack Tierney. The Hunter S. Thompson-inspired track is just two minutes and forty-two seconds long, and the talented young musician wastes no time in drawing you into his world and holding your attention straight from the off. Simplicity is the key to ‘Buy The Ticket’, as Tierney takes a quality over quantity approach – and it works a treat! Having grown up on The Beatles and Bob Dylan, the influences shine through brightly, but Jack’s done the hard part and manufactured his own unique sound that we at Indie Top 39 are pretty excited about. Recorded and produced by the man himself in his Florida apartment, ‘Buy The Ticket’ is an incredibly solid debut release from a multi-talented artist who we believe will just get better and better over time.
‘Buy The Ticket’ is a killer debut release from Jack Tierney! He’s undoubtedly an artist worth keeping an eye (and an ear) on!

What does the song mean to you?
I look at this song as a road movie. It’s full of little vignettes detailing a frantic singer trying to find their way in a world that both confuses and upsets them. The imagery and title of the song were inspired by the writings of Hunter S. Thompson and will hopefully transport the listeners to the scenes they create. This song holds a special place in my heart as it was a bit of a departure for my songwriting style at the time.
When did you realise that music is what you wanted to do?
When I was 10 years old. My uncle had introduced me to The Beatles that year and I was instantly hooked. From there on out I engrossed myself in classic rock and then branched out from there after growing fairly bored of it.
What are your favourite lyrics in the song?
This is a hard question but if I had to single out one specific line it would be, “I’m selling tickets to the new low”, because the listener potentially gains ownership of the line. Whatever “new low” the listener has experienced is then projected onto the song and it can hopefully become theirs if they identify with it.
What does success mean to you?
Finding success would, for me, mean finding a dedicated audience. Whether 100 people or 100,000 people, I just want to play music for people who would like to engage with it. The music industry is fickle but I love music too much to not pursue it.
