On Elijah Mann, the electo/folk artist, newest release ‘Clementine’ he captures beauty in a poetic and enjoyable way. The gentle texture flows along gently while the strong lyricism and vocals lead the energy. Sometimes embracing the thin texture, while at others the whole band would lean into the emotions. No matter who was playing, ‘Clementine’ was a beautiful song to listen to. Each different voice worked collaboratively with those around it to enhance one another. A completely unique and unprecedented release. Gorgeous and interesting, it shows off both Elijah Mann and producer, Adam Tilzer phenomenally.

‘Porcelain’, the latest release by the United Kingdom-based artist Finn McGowan is fun right from the get-go. I loved how many different genre’s influenced this cool release. Sometimes led by rolling hi-hats and quick lyricism, while at others leaning into the pretty chorus’ there was never a low moment. The powerful vocals were exciting and led the catchy vibe easily. Although the lyricism wasn’t always the most positive, ‘Porcelain’ was impossible to listen to without a smile on your face and a hop in your step. Young Astronaut » Hope
Incessantly catchy melodies keep ‘Hope’ running through your head for hours
INDIE TOP 39
High-energy synthesizers push the oddly relaxed single ‘Hope’ along. As the opening track for the upcoming EP, it does a fantastic job showing off the UK-based artists Young Astronaut. Entrancing vocals drift gently overtop the throbbing instrumental. Despite the business going on in the synthesizers and rhythm section, the vocals were comfortable and easy-going. Sticking to their own style, and not being pushed into the higher-energy vibe helped accent both them and the various voices supporting. Not only that, but it allowed each to fully commit to their mood. Whether adding to the chordal beauty or busy-ing up the atmosphere, everything felt like it had a purpose that it accomplished easily and beautifully.
