Is there anything more personal in this world than one sharing their own story of miscarriage, devastation, and heartbreak? On Loulita Gill’s brand new single, ‘Heaven Is Holding You’, the musician bravely does just that. Turning to music to heal the pain as best she can, the Bristol-based singer/songwriter pens one of the most poignant, tender, and heart-rending songs that we at Indie Top 39 have heard in ages. Featuring delicate piano, soaring strings, and the graceful and heavenly vocals of Gill, ‘Heaven Is Holding You’ is as pure and honest a song as you’ll ever wish to hear. “My heart’s in pieces cos a part belongs to you, still I find refuge in the one who’s holding you,” sings Gill. “This is not forever we won’t always be apart, it’s just a matter of time until I come to where you are.” Simply beautiful in every possible way!
‘Heaven Is Holding You’ is brave, poignant, fragile, and heartbreaking. A truly beautiful song from a highly talented musician.

What does the song mean to you?
It’s a very personal song. I wrote it some time after I miscarried. I was devastated by the loss of my baby, and so I put my pain into music, which was healing for me. I cried a lot while writing this song but I knew it was special and would be a source of comfort to many people who have not only miscarried but also lost loved ones.
What inspired you to share the song with the world?
It might sound morbid but I really love taking my pain (and I’ve experienced a lot in my life) and turning it into therapy for others. I feel a huge amount of compassion for people because I’ve been through so much in my own life, and so I thought it would be a wonderful gift to give people something that could help them mourn. It’s a song that can bring comfort and peace.
What are your favourite lyrics in the song?
Honestly, all of them. I feel like the song really describes that deep feeling of sadness, grief and sense of life’s cruelty and unfairness when you’ve lost someone that you love. But, that also, while you are separated from your loved one, you are both being held at the same time, and that in time you will be reunited forever.
What do you want to achieve in the next 12 months with your music?
I am hoping to release two EPs this year of songs that have come out of therapy sessions as I’ve been processing a lot of my trauma. I said to my producer that even if no one listens to them, at least they will be a source of healing for me (but I do hope that people will listen lol). They are real, raw, authentic and, in my opinion, heartbreakingly beautiful. I can’t wait to share them with the world.
