Swedish-based alternative act Kone Mara return with an incredible new single in the form of ‘Will You Live’. As their third official release, and the last before they unleash their debut EP, ‘Will You Live’ showcases a different side (and sound) to the band. Filled with emotion and tenderness, the tune has an ethereal and delicate atmosphere that is simply impossible not to love. Kone Mara has described their sound as an “ambivalent landscape of colours, darkness and unpredictability,” and I for one could not have put it better myself! Working alongside Grammy Award-winning engineer and producer Simon Nordberg, the ridiculously talented threesome have conjured up a sound that is so unique and fresh, we at Indie Top 39 would find it hard to believe that they’re destined for anything but greatness in the very near future. We can’t wait to hear their debut EP, which is scheduled for release on the 10th of March!
‘Will You Live’ is, to put it quite simply, one of the most beautiful tunes we’ve heard in a while. Thank you, Kone Mara!
INDIE TOP 39
What does the song mean to you?
‘Will You Live’ means so much to us! It was written to describe the love for the valuable things and the fear of losing what you hold dear. The song is about doubting your existence, the longing and the unconditional love.
What inspired you to share the song with the world?
The song is quite different from the other ones. It was written a while back and at first we just played it at live shows, allowing the song to grow bit by bit. Since the song is very revealing and emotional we felt it was time to show the world that side of us.
Please finish the sentence – Music to us is…
Exploring ourselves, connecting with the listeners and sharing deep thoughts and feelings. We became a band before we knew each other and in a short time we’ve grown to be close friends. Music is about saying something real. And having fun!
What do you want to achieve in the next 12 months with your music?
We want to play live for people and travel the world with our songs! One goal is to make an album which we are now starting to work on.
