Greg Bounce » People In Their Houses
Joyful and easy to listen to, Greg Bounce sounds incredible on ‘People In Their Houses’
INDIE TOP 39
‘People In Their Houses’ by Portugal-based artists Greg Bounce is bouncy, fun, and a ton of fun to listen to. I loved how well the layered vocals danced alongside the easy-going instrumental. Sliding in smoothly over the gentle synthesizers, they were emotional and passionate. Not only that, but they matched the mood set by the guitars, drums, and other cool voices in the rhythm section. Not only was this song a great example of how soft-grooves can shine, but a phenomenal performance by Greg Bounce as well.

Asher Mohr » Leaving
Deeply expressive, ‘Leaving’ is beautiful and a delight to listen to
INDIE TOP 39
While busy guitar lines set the tone, Asher Mohr’s emotive vocals soar over top poetically on his latest release, ‘Leaving’. Fully supported by the rhythm section that pushes and pulls the vocal melody. Delicate harmonies thicken the texture while the vocals effortlessly fly over top. I was impressed with how easily Mohr stuck out in the texture despite the thick nature of the instrumental. Of course the remarkable mixing is a large reason, but the timbre of the vocals helped. The strength, yet delicacy of his voice led the songs cool energy.

Fool Saint » Some Kind of Crazy
Fool Saint continue to impress with ‘Some Kind of Crazy’. Vibey and atmospheric, it’s unforgettable.
INDIE TOP 39
‘Some Kind of Crazy’ is atmospheric and dream-oike. The first single off the debut EP by Jersey City-based collective Fool Saint is cool and captures a ton of different moods and emotions. Powerful drums and delicate guitars support the energy while the vocals take the spotlight. The beautiful melody was easy to follow while still showing off frontwoman Sara Bruno’s talent. These deep, swelling emotions were only possible because of the groups chemistry. Seamlessly blending into the texture, each voice was pivotal to the vibe. Because of this, ‘Some Kind of Crazy’ feels larger than life.

Isolated Corners » Cornerstone
Unprecedented and cool, ‘Cornerstone’ kicks ass
INDIE TOP 39
Intensity greets you on “Cornerstone”, the latest release by solo rock artist Isolated Corners. Despite this intensity the lyricism is vulnerable and contrasts the heavy guitar lines phenomenally. Led by repetitive guitar lines, the groove is driven into your head. Not only that, but the whole instrumental is rock steady. Fully dedicated to the vibe they allow the vocals to lead and push the song in whatever direction they want. There’s nothing on the soundwaves quite like what Isolated Corners is making, it’s cool, powerful, and totally unique. “Cornerstone” is the first single leading up to his EP releasing this March, which is bound to be awesome.

Leopard Rays » Something Like Hell
The vulnerability of Leopard Rays on ‘Something Like Hell’ was breath-taking
INDIE TOP 39
One of the first things I thought of while listening to ‘Something Like Hell’ was how big everything sounded despite how emotional and vulnerable the lyrics were. UK-based rock band Leopard Rays sound incredibly cohesive and tight on this new release. Each and every voice was in tune with one another, allowing the song to reach the cavernous lows and mountainous highs that it does. The texture molded to whatever emotion the band was going for in the moment. An awesome display of lyricism, cool energy, and raw emotion from both the vocals and the instrumentalists.

Sunburn » Rainy Day
‘Rainy Day’ is catchy, groovy and vibey – what more could you want!
INDIE TOP 39
On ‘Rainy Day’, the latest single by Irish indie-rock band Sunburn, the band sounds simply incredible. Upbeat and exciting, it is literally impossible to listen to without a smile on your face. The vocals soar over the warm texture easily and commandingly. I loved how much energy they brought to the track while still matching everything happening around them. High energy drums and guitars easily supported the vibe and kept everything fun to listen to. This passionate performance ties together phenomenally, already sounding like a classic. A great release by a very exciting up and coming band.

Tuff Ghost » Cold and Grey
‘Cold and Grey’ left me with my jaw on the floor
INDIE TOP 39
When it comes to Tuff Ghost I’ve come to expect powerful electronics supporting cool, modern vocals. While ‘Cold and Grey’ is no exception, it’s groovy and shows off her unique style better than ever before. Ground shaking bass contrasts the almost Lorde-like vocals. Twisting and turning, this release will have you shellshocked as it switches moods. I loved how the intensity and delicacy clashed and melded. The whole atmosphere was awesome and stays stuck in your head for days. Both the vocals and the instrumental were intricate and passionate. Neither took the spotlight, yet both shined bright in that performance.
