Let’s just say that Brighton-based alternative rocker, Edward Sansom, has spent a fair amount of time on our charts in the past. We at Indie Top 39 have been big admirers of the musician for a while now, and his recent single ‘Saturday’ just reaffirms why we love the guy. Upbeat, anthemic, and gritty, ‘Saturday’ is a no-holds-barred party tune that would get any audience up on their feet and moving! The guitar-driven track serves as the follow-up to Sansom’s previous release ‘Suck It Up’, and showcases a more raw and intense soundscape. Drawing on inspiration from the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Queens of the Stone Age, and David Bowie, Sansom has concocted a sound that is unique, original, and most importantly…honest. If anyone is deserving of playing in front of a large, passionate audience at this time – it’s Edward Sansom. Listen to ‘Saturday’ and you’ll understand why!
‘Saturday’ is a killer little tune! Upbeat, energetic, and catchy-as-hell, you’ll be on your feet in no time!
INDIE TOP 39
What does the song mean to you?
The song means living for the future weekend. It’s a party tune. A dream of life after post-covid and what we have just gone through. It acts as a call out to my mates to come back together and have one last night out.
What do you hope to achieve with this song?
I want people to move carefree and relax into themselves. Society has been under immense pressure and I made this song to offer some relief.
It has picked up support from my local BBC Introducing team and I would love to get the track on 6 Music and national radio.
What would your life be like without music?
Black and White.
What do you want to achieve in the next 12 months with your music?
I’ve got two more singles ready to come out in the early part of 2022. I want to release more music and gig a whole lot more! Covid did disrupt the live scene for new artists, but I’m going to push to get my band onto more lineups. I’d like to have built a little team around my music who can help raise my game.
