Eerie and unique, ‘Take Me Back’, the latest release by Israeli artist Guy Moses, isn’t like anything else I’ve heard before. The intensity of the walking bass and percussion are contrasted by the long, light melodies awesomely. Never saying anything more than what the vibe needed at that moment. Through the verses to the syncopated “Take me back” section, everything was catchy and fit the mood perfectly.
Creating a soundscape through synths that’d feel at home in the 90’s and conversational vocals, the song manages to captivate as well as entrance. Even after listening and knowing what is coming next it still seems to take me by surprise. Both singers did a great job fitting the mood around them and enchanting the listener. When supported by a rhythm section that grooves as well as this one, the result is magical. I can confidently say it was one of my favorite releases from 2021.
