This past week where I live experienced its first snow. It always seems to be a shock even though it happens around the same time every year. Although the weather is getting cold for many of us, the burning passion of artists when they release a new song is inspiring. It is almost impossible not to be excited whenever you experience passion firsthand and luckily for us (and you) the artists this week are incredible. Between their exciting new tracks and the myriad of other songs that didn’t make our writeup, we guarantee there’s something that’ll warm your heart.

Based out of the UK, Coral Palms continue to impress with their new single ‘Something In The Air’. Washed guitars dance behind the optimistic vocals. Whenever the energy switches either into the exciting chorus’ or the lighter bridges/verses the band was at the root of it. Drum patterns intensify while the guitar’s switch between supporting the rhythm and providing atmospheric, catchy riffs. All of that was complemented by the awesome vocals that match and enhance the tone of the song. They would ease the transitions between sections and match the energy awesomely. Every single time I’ve listened I’ve found a smile on my face by the end of the song, an absolutely great release.

Arliston » Mountaineer
Beautiful and relaxing, ‘Mountaineer’ is a testament to easy listening.

Cutting someone off is never easy. The sadness and complexity of emotions is overwhelming, but Arliston, the UK-based trio, manage to capture these emotions flawlessly. The vocals float along, almost like they’re yearning for something, alongside an easy-going, gentle instrumental. Minimalistic piano provided just enough for the harmonies to feel rooted. Other voices would occasionally dot the texture, coming and going freely. Never staying along terribly long – only long enough to change the color of the instrumental. The gorgeous texture, however, was defined by the powerful vocals. They were lovely and fit the tone perfectly, resulting in an incredibly enjoyable listening experience.

Erika Severyns demonstrates her beauty and elegance on ‘World At Bay’

Erika Severyns sounds absolutely gorgeous on her latest release, ‘World At Bay’. Gentle delivery pairs beautifully with the explorative guitar lines phenomenally. One of my favorite parts was the storytelling of the lyricism. While harrowingly pretty, it still managed to paint a picture and transport you into the moment. Easy-going melodies seem to drift to and fro, never quite settling. Intimate and melancholistic, each voice added to the texture uniquely. Vocals would lead the way while the guitar provided rhythmic support in lieu of drums. Cello deepend the sad energy and gave all the support the vocals needed to float delicately along.

Guy Moses » Take Me Back
‘Take Me Back’ is both unforgettable and indescribable

Guy Moses’ newest release, ‘Take Me Back’ is totally unlike anything else out right now. Cool vocals complement and contrast the evolving instrumental. Sometimes opting for a traditional sound, while at others the modernization takes the forefront. The delicacy of the female vocals contrasts with the long melodic lines of the male vocals. The whole band sounded close-knit through every push and pull – furthering the intensity of every note and moment of silence. Despite the uniqueness, ‘Take Me Back’ is easy to listen to – and although innovation takes the forefront, the cohesiveness of the band was evident. Through every high and low the groove was never lost. A cool, exciting, and relaxing release.

Beautiful harmonies drift alongside the lush melody of John Love’s song, ‘We Still Have More To Do’. Pairing the delicate piano with modern synths and drums was innovative and pretty. No matter how dense the harmonies in the vocals got, everything was easy to listen to and left you with a lovely taste on your palette. Part of this was because the role these vocals took. Instead of giving the song it’s energy, they instead deepend the vibe that was already established. It allowed their beauty to come through, without detracting from the already gorgeous instrumental.

Finland-based artist/producer, Taipei, sounds cool and collected on his newest release, ‘RAD I/O’. Atmospheric synths float along ethereally besides the quick drum groove. Through the thickening texture, the melody is never lost. The soundscape, despite thickening and thinning out, never got too complex or wordy. Instead, that airy vibey-ness is carried all throughout. It allowed the open melodies to meander without feeling lost. The cool, relaxing energy was enough to keep your interest, but never enough to lose it’s spacey feel. The perfect release to wind down to after a long day – both pretty and easy to listen to.
