Can you believe this one more month came to an end. And this weekend is a special one as many of you are bringing their best Halloween costumes. We hope you are having the best time ever. In the meantime, we are here to introduce you to 39 best songs that were released this week. Below are 7 of them that we decided to review.
Einsam » At Eye Level
To try pin down what genre ‘At Eye Level’ is would be impossible
INDIE TOP 39
Upbeat synths and drums push ‘At Eye Level’ forward endlessly. It felt like it was reaching for the end of the song, yet the vocals were relaxed and took their time. Despite the break-neck energy it was relaxed and easy-going. At times it’d seem to devolve into more of a chaotic texture, losing the straightforward melodies in the guitars. Throughout the ever-changing texture, the introspective poetic lyrics provide structure and intensity as the song grows. By the time the climax happens, it’s already over. Listening to ‘At Eye Level’ can only be described as an experience, and a great one at that.

Cris Cap » Like a Rose
Much like staying inside watching the rain fall outside, ‘Like A Rose’ will put you in an uplifting, introspective mood.
INDIE TOP 39
Delicate piano lines support light vocals on Cris Cap and Tyla Raé’s cool new release, ‘Like A Rose’ With elements of RnB, pop and about a dozen other genres, it’s easy to listen to without feeling dumbed down. Instead, the easy-going vocals float over top conversationally. Like a dance, the two would take turns in the spotlight but also enhance each other’s melodies. When the solo section hit, I was hooked. It was beautiful jazzy, and expanded the song’s already cool sound. Not only was the song easy to listen to, but it was warm and enjoyable as well.

Dopplegangers » Three Steps South
Loud, proud, and tired of the music industry, ‘Three Steps South’ kicks ass
INDIE TOP 39
No time is wasted setting the vibe on ‘Three Steps South’ the newest release by UK band The Dopplegangers. Detailing their experience trying to make a name in the cutthroat music industry. Infectious guitar riffs dance behind the passionate, fed-up lyrics. I love this song in part because of the honesty and personality. The exact same people who would create a career in the industry are the ones who ‘Three Steps South’ is about. It wastes no breath pandering, and not only that, but does it in a way that’s still catchy and fun. Managing to sound tired of the bullshit without letting those emotions drive the song is another part of what made this song fantastic.

hui. » Saganaki
Relaxing vibes help the beauty of ‘Saganaki’ shine
INDIE TOP 39
‘Saganaki’ by Hui. is easy-going and relaxing. Released alongside another single called ‘Worth’, this double release isn’t one you’re going to want to miss. Light indie-esque vocals float over the delicate texture. Dreamy synths support the long vocal melodies phenomenally. Whenever backing vocals enter, they deepen and expand the harmonies. One of my favorite parts was how unpredictable ‘Saganak’ was. Voices would enter and leave, but the cool energy was never lost. Not only that, but the lyrics were light and easy-going while still being brutally honest. This is the first release from Hui.’s upcoming EP.

Ivy Eye » Intoxicating
Funky, light and easy to listen to – ‘Intoxicating’ checks off all the boxes.
INDIE TOP 39
UK-duo Ivy Eye further explore their sound on their tertiary single ‘Intoxicating’. I loved how the texture thickened through the chorus without making the song feel fuller. Instead, it kept it’s funky almost nostalgic energy throughout. A good saxophone solo is a great addition to literally any song and ‘Intoxicating’ is no exception. It’s high energy contrasted the almost relaxed vibe of the vocals. Despite sounding relaxed and easy-going, the way they added to the texture was perfect; never getting too wordy, or trying to steal the spotlight from the band. We here at Indie Top 39 are huge fans of Ivy Eye and wrote about their previous release, ‘Make My Way Out(To The Sun)’ .

Licorish » Love Song?
The introspection on ‘Love Song?’ will have you in your feelings by the end
INDIE TOP 39
Love songs are one of the most common themes in music. Usually, however, they’re about how great it is and how badly it’s wanted. While elements of Licorish’s new release, ‘Love Song?’ discuss that, the overall attitude is encapsulated with the lyrics “I don’t think love is for me”. This adversity towards falling in love makes it feel that much more relatable. Similarly, the conversational tone fits the attitude and makes every lyric feel like they’re coming from a friend. The RnB elements fit Licorish’s soothing voice perfectly. ‘Love Song?’ is a song that will warm your heart as well as make you think.

Maijah » Autumn Vibes
‘Autumn Vibes’ sounds how I wish every Autumn felt, cool and exciting.
INDIE TOP 39
Everybody has heard the phrase “Summer Anthem”, but nobody talks about the other seasons. Thankfully, Portland-based singer/songwriter Maijah has managed to create a true fall anthem with her newest release, ‘Autumn Vibes’. The thin texture gives Maijah all the foundation needed to command attention and soar over top. Cool synths and aftereffects twist the songs traditional elements into something new and refreshing. Between the layered vocals and almost EDM-Esque synths, there is always something interesting going on behind the lead vocals. Speaking of, the lead melody is captivating through both the high energy chorus’ and the thinned out verses. The entire song is catchy and cool while staying relaxed – much like fall in general.
