‘Trophy Case’ is the brand new single from Arizona based musician and producer Sid the Void. Trent Alber is the brains behind Sid the Void and on ‘Trophy Case,’ he enlists the help of his friend Stravs for mixing and recording. The chilled-out, hypnotic and synth-infused track sees the artist attempting to deal with losing a connection to someone that he doesn’t want to lose. A place we’ve all been. “Can I call you tonight and tell you what’s on my mind?” pleads the composer. Inspired by the likes of Tame Impala, Khruangbin and The Cure to name a few, ‘Trophy Case’ is another superb example of a genre-bending tune that’s tough to place in a box. Just what we love here at Indie Top 39! It’s a little soulful, it’s a little poppy, there’s even hints of R&B – it just has it all!
Full of warmth and soul, the synth-filled sounds of ‘Trophy Case’ induce a dreamy getaway, if only for a few minutes.

What does the song mean to you?
To me, this song is about trying to let go of the good memories you have with someone, and being OK with leaving behind a connection that’s fading away.
Tell us about your creative process and how the song came to be?
I produced this track with my friend Stravs in a studio in Phoenix, Arizona. It was the first song I had made in a real studio setting. Everything I had made up to that point was in my bedroom on my laptop.
The drums came first and then I added keys and bass. After that it came naturally to freestyle a melody line over the top. The lyrics came out of the pen pretty quickly, because it’s what I was thinking about that morning. I was just thinking out loud.
What would your life be like without music?
Everything would be way worse without it. Music for me is not just a form of expression, but it’s a way to cope with life’s struggles. Listening to the right track can completely change my day. It can pull me out of a bad place, or push me towards a new idea of my own.
What do you want to achieve in the next 12 months with your music?
My plan is to share my music everywhere. The first few singles are just the beginning. I have one more single that I plan to release in August, then soon after I have an entire EP coming. I’m really excited to share it. In my opinion, it’s my best work to date. I think people are going to dig it.
