Liverpool based singer/songwriter, Ben Burke, offers up a beautifully simple yet exceedingly enchanting little number on his brand new single, ‘Come Around.’ Melodic, acoustic chords intertwine with a catchy, twangy electric guitar as Burke tells a story of longing and yearning for someone. I think it’s fair to say that ‘Come Around’ was inspired by the events of last year – the pandemic, the lockdowns, the isolation. “I get up I step outside, these lonely streets bring a tear to my eye,” sings the talented vocalist. “And I’m just waiting for you to come along.” The music perfectly juxtaposes with the lyrics, but when the chorus kicks in, Burke allows us to be filled with excitement and joy at the prospect of an upcoming reunion – and life returning to normal.
On ‘Come Around’, Ben Burke has been able to take the listener on an emotional roller-coaster. From longing and sadness to excitement and anticipation – ‘Come Around’ has it all.

What does ‘Come Around’ mean to you?
‘Come Around’ in a nutshell is a song about Longing and the joys of reunion. But perhaps you could look a little closer into the theme of unity, maybe it’s about trying to change the way we look at life, coming around to the idea and the notion that there is more to life than material values, money, envy and ego. The idea that love should be the primary force that drives us as beings. Only through being divided, some of us have come to the realisation that these false idols we worship will never fullfill our souls only chip away at them. As an individual I also need to try and work on fully understanding this philosophy but it’s hard not to get your arse kicked into submission under this regime. To often do we drag ourselves down comparing bank balances or physical appearances with one another. In my opinion the only thing we can do is constantly try to better ourselves as individuals by uniting with our brothers and sisters through love, friendship, compassion and empathy. Sharing true knowledge with one another rather than building these walls between us. Walls made from bricks of jealousy and hateful concrete. As the old saying goes together we stand, divided we fall.
Please finish the sentense: “Music to me is…”
Music to me is a universal form of emotional and spiritual communication, just like Stevie Wonder says ‘it’s a language we all understand’. Music and sound are made by vibrations, All life is vibrations even on a molecular level. I think this is why all people feel so in touch with music, music resonates at our very core.
