Leicester based rapper, CompreHend, took some time off recently to develop and perfect his signature sound. It seems to have done him the world of good, as his brand new track, the follow-up to I’m Gonna Win, shows an artist at the top of his game. ‘Coronialism’ is a banging, trap-like hit that combines thumping kicks and intricate high-hat patterns with CompreHend’s thought provoking, hard-hitting lyrics. The politically charged, conscious hip-hop track sees the artist vent his anger with the global pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns. Questioning authority and those in power, CompreHend invites the listener to think for themself, to not be a sheep, and to draw their own conclusions. His flow is superb and his delivery is on point. It’s no surprise that CompreHend’s fanbase is growing rapidly, and I get the feeling he’ll be around for some time.
‘Coronialism’ is certainly a track that fits the crazy times we’re living in. A thundering beat full of energy and power from the talented young rapper.
What does ‘Coronialism’ means to you?
‘Coronialism’ is about approaching huge narrative shifting events with an open mind. It’s about looking at who benefits and who loses in situations like the global pandemic, questioning authority and paying attention to how the media frame things in a deliberate way.
Music to me is a way to vent my inner angst and connect with people in a special way.
