Softly padded synth sounds creep out of the opening bars of ‘Ambivalence (For You)’ gently easing you into this beautifully simple and raw track by earthy, indie outfit China Bamboo. Hailing from Brighton, this young four piece band already seem to have developed quite the knack for delivering uniquely fresh indie tracks soaked in melodic hooks and rich in atmosphere. This is the kind of song I want to spend hazy Sundays listening to, lapping up the dreamy vocals and cocooning myself in the mellow production whilst drinking tea and keeping the franticness of Monday at bay just a little longer. Despite being awash with melancholy lyrics and heartfelt sentiments there is such an easy-going, light quality to this second single. The laid-back drums, quirky harmonies and textured synth embellishments add to that sense of freedom and release that ultimately represent the true cathartic nature of ‘Ambivalence (For You)’.
