Berlin based singer-songwriter Josh Savage holds a special place in our hearts. He took us completely by surprise today as he released an acoustic EP ‘The Acoustic Way Around’.
We decided to reach out to him and ask to share a bit more about the songs he choose for the EP.
Why these four songs? What does it mean for you to be releasing the EP during this bizarre time?
I felt like acoustic versions of these songs brought them in a completely new deep and meaningful light that perhaps hadn’t been seen before.
I’m kinda sad I can’t celebrate the release of the EP with a release show. My plan was to take it back to my roots and do a small living room tour but I guess that will have to wait for now.
Can you tell us what each of the songs means to you?
‘Found in Mexico’ came about after an inspiring trip to Mexico that was organised by my fan Alfredo to play a show. Their passionate way of life and meeting my fans on the other side of the world reinvigorated my love of music.
‘Poison’ was written shortly after finishing the book Stealing Fire by Steven Kotler and discovering that animals often seek out to get out their heads to escape the mundanity of life sometimes. For example, elephants love to get drunk on overly-fermented grapes and dolphins like to get high on chewing on a toxic fish.
Whether we like it or not, we all have a weakness and tend to lean towards something or someone we know isn’t good for us.

‘Skinny Dipping’ is about spontaneously jumping into the unknown and embracing it.
‘Carry Me Home’ is about taking a leap of faith and the never-ending doubts that come with it.
What you got planned for the test of this year?
I’m still planning to go ahead with my postponed The Long Way Round Tour this November. Most artists are postponing till the new year but I’m sticking to my guns to make it work one way or another whilst keeping it in a safe environment. In the meantime, I am more creative than ever writing and recording so watch this space for more releases.
We’ve been spinning his heartfelt EP on repeat. You can find all of the songs below. Please make sure to save songs you like to the playlists as this will help Josh break the algorithms.
