A week ago we named Jodie Nicholson‘s latest single ‘Move’ as the best release of the week and today it makes a massive debut straight at the top spot on our independent chart.
This week we have eight new entries in total that belong to mostly new artists we discovered this year.
‘Zeitgeist / Absolute Monopoly’ is a debut single from France based band PANEM. We fell in love with their sound and we’ve been spinning the song on repeat. And the video makes so much sense in today’s world. It has that apocalyptic nightmarish feel to it.
‘Thamel’ is also a debut single that comes from an Italian singer-songwriter Moscato. We spoke to him in a recent interview about the journey. Now he released an animated music video for the song too.
It is no surprise that 2020 is triggering protest songs. Artists were always the ones to push the boundaries and speak the truth no one wants to hear. Dan Cross is a great example as ‘Paingiver’ revolves around Trump and his administration.
Another debut single on the chart this week comes from Test Card Girl. A 36-year old singer who is already working on her debut album. ‘Holds Me Down’ is about a time in life when the singer was a bit lost and making some bad and toxic decisions and then at the same time being helped by great people to get back on track.
Macajey is an American singer-songwriter currently living in Estonia. ‘Sleep’ is his second single to enter the chart this year. We have to admit that there is something in the track that triggers a similar emotion as Chemical Brothers & Beck’s ‘Wide Open’
JDA’s latest single ‘I Try’ is so good! It’s like Jill Scott meets Maya Law. We love it and today the song starts its journey on our chart at number twenty seven.
The last new entry belongs to Ela Ira as her debut single ‘Nothing To It’ makes a debut at number twenty eight.
If you like the music, make sure to give a shout on socials and tag the artists you discovered. Don’t be shy and spread the indie music vibe. Only together we can break algorithms and support the artists who are doing it all independently.
