Alessandro Ciminata » Lovers
Following the handful of engaging synth-pop tunes, all of which sounded very enjoyable, we see Alessandro Ciminata awaken his inner Lewis Capaldi, with a much more stripped back and slow-burning single, titled ‘Lovers’. It is everything that one could expect from a song like this one, and it does extremely well when bringing forward the feels.
Baxter Dury » I’m Not Your Dog
Baxter Dury applies his almost King Krule-like vocals to an enchanting mixture of strings and electronic elements that make the production. Dury’s words are delivered in the form of spoken word and are accompanied by an interesting french harmony. It was fair to say that this song piqued my interest almost straight away with its uniqueness and whimsical yet urban tone.
Harvey Causon » Fourth Wall
I feel like the lo-fi and simplistic nature of the production works incredibly well in terms of setting the tone in the earlier half of this track. It allows Harvey Causon‘s vocals to take centre stage, and also allows the progression of said production to have more of an impact later on, as more and more layers are added to it. In my mind, this is a popular method in making a song engaging, and ‘Fourth Wall’ puts this method to brilliant use.
J-Felix & El Train » Check
The moment I played this track, I knew that I wanted to spread the word of just how catchy it truly is. I have really found myself getting engrossed in a lot of instrumental tracks of late, and ‘Check’ only renews my love towards them. The way electronic beat had me hooked straight away, and I would regard it as nearly essential for any background music or party playlist.
Lea Porcelain » Future Hurry Slow
Certainly, a track which uses the art of progression incredibly well. ‘Future Hurry Slow’ begins as what I would describe as an acoustic number; one that feels very intimate and immersive. However, what really made me fall in love with this track was how more ambient sounds began to creep their way in, and eventually gave the song so many more instrumental layers. Pair all this with some great vocals, and you have something truly stellar.
Seeva » Clouds
Seeva definitely seems to be one of those artists who only gets better and better with each track he puts out. And while I have adored all of the infatuating pop tunes Seeva had created prior, his newest track ‘Clouds’ is his finest piece to date. Seeva?s ever-impressive vocal range, along with an incredibly well-crafted production, makes this track an instant one to remember.
VIMES » Where It Hurts the Most
I really love how steady the rhythm is on ‘Where It Hurts The Most’, and feel that it really fits together well with the wide array of electronic elements which come and go. Thanks to this, ‘Where It Hurts the Most’ never has a dull moment. Every part of it is unique from beginning to end.
